The 3rd Himalaya Classic Rally 2008
Udaipur to Calcutta via Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh
The Himalaya Rally is a unique driving adventure for owners of classic cars. We journey from royal Rajasthan to the ancient Indian capital city of Calcutta, through the Himalaya mountains via the secretive kingdom of Bhutan.
A truly memorable event from start to finish, participants will be taking away many fond memories of this beautiful land.
We are very pleased that because the rally in 2007 proved to be such a success in Bhutan, this year the authorities are allowing us to explore this ancient land further. With the added attraction of 2008 being the year of the King's Coronation, pageantry and spectacle will be at fever pitch in the kingdom.
In 2008 the rally will take place in the autumn, the cooler period of the year when the bright crisp days will give good views of the Himalayas, but it is still hot to drive with the roof down. Evenings are only slightly cooler than in the spring.
Every day you will see and experience life at street level, try the local food, meet and interact with the people, and enjoy some of India's magnificent monuments and buildings. The rally offers the adventurer an ever-changing canvas of colour, romance, dreams, splendour, exotic animals and breathtaking landscape.
As organisers of successive successful Himalaya Rally and Jewel of India events we know it can be a life changing experience and as one happy participant said after the last rally,
"it has proved a tough, raw and deeply challenging event. I have experienced visual and emotional extremes, and while it may seem hackneyed to say it, I don't think my life will be quite the same again. The rally has tested me in many different ways, and I know that the experience will stay vivid in my mind for many years to come."
