Day 4 - Amritsar to Dharamsala


Overnight at the Asia Health Resort

Plain but comfortable rooms in an incredible location looking down over the valley.

From here it is about 3 km to the centre of McCloud Ganj, the home of the Dalai Lama, and the temple complex is interesting to visit. Other important sites nearby include:

HIS HOLINESS'S TEMPLE (5 KM)
The impressive monastery has larger than life images of the Buddha, Padma Sambha and
Avalokteshwara.

ST. JOHN IN WILDERNESS (3 KM)
Between Forsythganj & Mcleodganj lies the charming St. John's Church built with dressed stone and has beautiful stained glass windows.

KANGRA ART MUSEUM (13 Km)
This museum in Kotwali bazaar has artifacts dating back to 5th century which display the rich past of the Kangra Valley. It includes a gallery of Kangra's famous miniature paintings, sculptures, pottery and anthropological items.

BHAGSUNATH TEMPLE/WATERFALL (1700m) 6 Km
The old temple of Bhagsunath has a fresh water spring. Further, about a half km. is a beautiful waterfall.

DHARAMKOT (2100m) 5 km
Situated on the crest of a hill, it affords a panoramic view of Kangra Valley, Pong Dam & Dhauladhar ranges.
